A promising partnership: In November 2019 Boben Kalappurayil, Doppstadt area sales manager, and the New Zealand Stevens Group representatives met for the first time. Less than twelve months later, the deal was wrapped up and the group of enterprises became the new Doppstadt dealer for the insular state.
Common Goals and Values
Right from the start, the chemistry was good. One reason is the great similarity of the founding histories of the family enterprises. In 1974 Hayward and Brian Johnston founded Stevens Group, initially as a small manufacturing and engineering business operating from their home garage, where father and son laid the foundation for the company’s success. Today Stevens Group is a third generation family business. In the new 7,000 square meter facility in Auckland, Stevens Group manufactures, imports and distributes outdoor machinery from world leading manufacturers for the waste management and recycling industry – and of course our solutions must not be missing!
We were especially impressed by the company’s working principle and standards: For instance Stevens Group attaches great importance to high-quality products and buys machines exclusively from countries and suppliers, whose values conform with the company’s values. Furthermore, a wide product range, a large spare part warehouse and short delivery periods make our new business partner stand out - features we also attach importance to.
Customers Thrilled About First Doppstadt Machine Sold
Although the recycling industry in New Zealand is quite small compared to other more populous countries, the demand for modern recycling plants and machines is increasing. At the very beginning of the partnership, Stevens Group hit a spot and sold a Doppstadt single-shaft shredder. “The customer was thrilled about the performance and the flexibility of the DW2060K“, said Ken Johnston, Director of Sales & Marketing.
