Which processes approximately 10000 tons of shredded green waste per year producing high-quality compost together with the big Massey Ferguson 8737 tractor.
Both machines are used at KOW Kompostierung GmbH. This enterprise processes approximately two thirds of the wood and green waste of Nuremberg, a big city with more than half a million inhabitants. For the article, the reporters visited the 50 by 50 meters and nearly four meters high tabular windrow and watched the Side Turner-Line compost turner at work. What is special about the Side-Turner-Line: instead of driving over a trapezoidal or triangular windrow, the DU 320 slices off the side of the large windrow while it moves along the side and builds a new windrow on the opposite side by means of a conveyor. In this way, the machine can achieve up to 1000 cubic meters throughput per hour.
The advantages are obvious: Compared to several trapezoidal windrows, one large tabular windrow requires less space and the aeration achieved by the side turner is much more intense. It takes only about eight weeks from the raw compost to the final product. Further benefits: The machine can be used flexibly everywhere and it is quickly set up for use. Furthermore, the lateral milling cutter discs are equipped with highly wear-resistant tools, which can easily be replaced.
The employees of KOW Kompostierung GmbH are definitely satisfied with their DU 320 and the STARK Magazine seems to be impressed by the performance too.
