IN RECORD TIME: DOPPSTADT AND RTT DEVELOP MODULAR SENSOR SORTER

The IMS 2 combines advanced high-end sorting technology with the flexibility and cost-efficiency of mobile systems. With this solution, Doppstadt and RTT System GmbH close a critical gap in the processing of diverse material streams.

Behind this innovation is a strategic partnership in which both companies combined their specific core competencies.
“The collaboration progressed at record speed and on equal footing,” explains Doppstadt Managing Director Dr. Phillip Nellessen. This cooperative approach enabled the efficient integration of technological expertise and market experience.

Hendrik Beel, Managing Director of RTT System GmbH, emphasizes:
“Our expertise in automation and artificial intelligence, combined with Doppstadt’s deep understanding of machinery and the requirements of the recycling and waste management industry, complement each other perfectly.”

Four Modular Sensors, One Mission: Maximum Purity

The result of this collaboration is the semi-mobile IMS 2 sensor sorter. At the core of the system is a state-of-the-art sensor unit. The solution combines four detection methods to precisely identify and remove unwanted materials from mixed construction waste, commercial waste, and bulky waste.

Data from an NIR sensor, 3D shape recognition, and a color camera are seamlessly merged and processed within an AI-based module. An induction loop for reliable metal detection completes the system. Sorting parameters are individually configured by RTT according to customer requirements and can be adjusted remotely when needed.

Plug & Play Instead of Complex Density Separation

Compared to systems that rely on conventional processes such as density separation using water, the IMS 2 offers significant advantages. Wastewater disposal is eliminated entirely, and the separated fractions do not require extensive post-treatment.

The new sensor sorter was specifically developed as a plug-and-play solution for use in MMPC plants. It integrates seamlessly as a high-performance component and can be optimally combined with other Doppstadt solutions such as the INVENTHOR series and the new SWS 6.

Efficient Integration: The IMS 2 in the MMPC

While capital-intensive stationary solutions remain the industry standard in recycling and waste management, Doppstadt offers a highly economical and compliant alternative with the MMPC. The use of standard components ensures strong residual value for the machines. Low investment requirements combined with increased value creation enable the MMPC to achieve profitability quickly.

In practical terms, this means maximum cost-efficiency when processing a wide range of material streams.

IFAT: Doppstadt Presents Sensor Sorter to Industry Professionals

Doppstadt will present the IMS 2 to the professional audience for the first time at IFAT. Visitors can experience the modular sensor sorter and other innovations from Doppstadt live from May 4 to May 7, 2026, at the outdoor area FM.709/1 at Messe München.

Best Solution. Smart Recycling.
